The Catena Artistorum (CatenArt) is a non-profit support network for dedicated young and emerging artists. To help them fulfill their mission, the Catena provides :

• cross-cultural residencies to nurture and challenge their creative life;
• a fellowship conducive to mutual enrichment and collaborations;
• introduction to influential artists and inspiring mentors;
• exhibition and performance opportunities.

CatenArt Residencies

Every year, the Catena Artistorum offers international residencies open to artists from all disciplines and backgrounds. With their home-base strategically located in culturally vibrant centers, such as Berlin, Barcelona or New York, the “CatenArt Residencies” are designed to nourrish and inspire artists through:

• the discovery of local artistic treasures and traditions;
• introduction to influential artists, curators and institutions;
• fellowship and collaboration with artists from other countries.

ArtyShow

ArtyShow is an art space opened in early 2015 to provide exhibition and performance opportunities for young artists. The space comprises an indoor surface of 200 Sq m. and a courtyard of 100 Sq m.

ArtyShow is located in the ‘Poblenou’ neighborhood, in Barcelona. This neighborhood, once industrial, is now home to a vibrant and youthful art community. Artists’ studios and other creative hubs such as Bau (School of Design) and the Museum of Vila Casas Foundation have blossomed in this area over the past decade.

A collective [BA1] was created two years ago in order to promote and support non-profit initiatives, especially in the arts. ArtyShow is set to become an active member of the collective. Meetings such as art talks, lectures or workshops will also take place at ArtyShow.

ArtyShow wants to coach artists in the early stages of their career. It relies on the observation that, after graduate school and a few years of studio work, what young artists need the most is a place to show their work so they can receive feedback from a diverse audience.

ArtyShow will also make its space available for other cultural, non-profit organizations.

Who we are

Xavier Gonzalez-Florenzano, president

Born in Madrid in 1948 he is a Swiss and Spanish citizen who lives in Singapore since 2010. He is married and has 3 children. Primary and secondary school at Lycée Français, Barcelona. Degree in Economics from University of Vienna and Geneva. Financial advisor at Citibank and Rothschild Bank, set up his own money management firm in 1991.He is been involved in arts since the young ages as a collector but also as a member of several institutions. He is a former member of the Foundation of the CAC, Geneva (Contemporary Art Center) and of the Committee of SAMAH, Geneva (Société des Amis du Musée d’Art et d’Histoire). Recently he set up CatenArt, Swiss association that promotes art and spirituality and helps young artists to develop their careers. He also opened an art space called ArtyShow in Barcelona to show his own collection but also to allow artists to make exhibitions or other events.

Monika Haas, vice-president

Born in 1984 in Styria / Austria. 1999 - 2003 Training for Fashion Design 2003 - 2005 College of Social Education 2005 - 2007 Voluntary Service in Italy / Naples 2007 - 2011 worked as a social worker at the Institute "Special Education Centre Vienna" Since 2011 studies in art education, art history, art theory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna Since 2012 teaching at the School of Fashion Design, Wiener Neustadt Focus: fashion and textile design; Participating in several exhibitions for Textile and Fashion Working and living in Vienna/Styria

Lucio Amoruso, secretary

Philippe Languin, treasurer

Born in 1946, studied in Paris and Geneva (Economics). Worked in different swiss banks in credit and portfolio management sectors. Studied piano since the age of 6 ; still active in piano playing , giving concerts as soloist as well as chamber music. Has been for 25 years member of the board and treasurer of the World Federation of International Music competition-Geneva. Permanent interest in all form of arts (painting , sculpture , performances) member of ICOM.

Inès Flammarion, member

After graduating in Art History, Inès Flammarion started working for international galleries before leading External Relations for The Geneva Contemporary Art Center. In 2014, she joined the interdisciplinary art space « Flux Laboratory » in Geneva and Zürich as Project and Communication Director. Her passion for art as a universal emotional vector led TEDx to invite her to give a conference on this topic in 2014. In parallel, she also co-founded Verbier Moutain Climbers, a travelling exhibition of cable cars transformed by Swiss designers and auctioned for the « Make-a-Wish » foundation.
